25 august 2003.

i'm not going anyplace new for a long time. this is the first chance i've had to really think about all i've done lately, and here are the highlights:

- feeling like i was in some teen horror movie while necking with dylan in the backseat of his fancy shmancy car in the middle of the woods. no chainsaw killer got us, but we did sleep lovingly in the bed of ryan's pickup truck hours later.

-driving home from the city with everyone quiet and listening to leonard cohen and the music ending and eric said "this song kicked the soundtrack-to-the-night's ass".

- seeing radiohead live again.

- seeing radiohead play "creep".

- getting goofy phone messages from the kids i worked with all summer.

- sitting in jess and karencooks room talking and laughing and everything else and thinking it wouldn't make sense for me to be doing anything else at 4:21am.

- gianna's grille three times in one week. (and seeing the hypatia poster on the wall and missing the pirate's cove kids immensely)

... and so much more, but the point is it has all been so essential and the summer wouldn't have been right without any of it.

on the plane home from minneapolis the flight attendant's hip hits my fingers and she asks me what i'd like to drink. the dilemma: tomato juice or ginger ale? i decide on the former and peek out the window past the faces of the people next to me. we are descending and white billows pass the window and i think these clouds have never touched human hands. and here i am, slicing right through them.
